# Best cordless hedge trimmers Source: https://mowandedge.co.uk/best/best-cordless-hedge-trimmer Publisher: Mow and Edge. Picks are based on what the Amazon listings state, not on hands-on testing. Method: https://mowandedge.co.uk/how-we-pick A battery hedge trimmer has to match the hedge. Blade length sets how much you clear with each sweep, so a long blade suits wide runs of privet or beech, while a shorter one is easier to steer around rounded shrubs. Tooth gap, sometimes listed as cutting capacity, decides how thick a stem the blades will take before they stall. Weight matters more than most specs, because you hold the tool at arm's length, often above shoulder height. Finally, check whether a battery and charger come in the box or whether you are buying the bare tool for a system you already own. This guide compares six cordless trimmers on blade length, cutting capacity, voltage, weight and what is supplied, using only what each listing states. ## Products ### 1. Hedge Trimmer 18V LXT 60 cm (Machine only) - MAKITA DUH602Z Blade length: 60 cm; Cutting capacity: Not stated; Voltage: 18 V LXT; Weight: 3.54 kg; Battery and charger: Not included A bare 18V LXT hedge trimmer with a 60 cm stainless steel blade and up to 4,400 cuts per minute, for owners of Makita batteries with long hedges to clear. In its favour: - The 60 cm blade is the longest stated for an 18V tool in this guide, so wide hedges take fewer passes. - The listing gives a cutting rate of up to 4,400 cuts per minute for a quick, clean pass. - A listed weight of 3.54 kg is light for a 60 cm blade, which helps on long sessions. Good to know: - Sold as the machine only, so you need Makita 18V LXT batteries and a charger. - The listing does not state the tooth gap, so the thickest stem it will take is unknown. ### 2. Greenworks Battery Extension Hedge Trimmer Chainsaw Electric 2 in 1 40V + Battery Hedge Trimmer 40V 61cm Cutting Length Blade length: 61 cm; Cutting capacity: 27 mm blade spacing; Voltage: 40 V; Weight: 2.8 kg; Battery and charger: 2 Ah battery and charger with the pole tool A bundle of a 61 cm 40V hand held hedge trimmer and a Greenworks 2 in 1 pole saw and pole hedge trimmer, for gardens with both low hedges and tall growth. In its favour: - The hand held trimmer has 61 cm steel blades with 27 mm spacing, the widest gap stated in this guide. - A listed 2.8 kg weight and a 90 degree swivelling handle make long sessions easier. - The second tool adds a pole hedge trimmer and pole saw that switch over without tools. Good to know: - The listing is unclear on batteries: one line says a 2 Ah battery and charger are included, another says they are not. - Two tools in one box means more to store if you only need a hand held trimmer. ### 3. Makita DUH523RF LXT Hedge Trimmer with 3.0Ah Li-ion Battery Blade length: 52 cm; Cutting capacity: Not stated; Voltage: 18 V LXT; Weight: 3.4 kg; Battery and charger: 3.0 Ah battery included, charger not stated An 18V Makita hedge trimmer with a 52 cm stainless blade, a cushioned anti vibration build and a 3.0 Ah battery, sized for typical garden hedges. In its favour: - The listing describes five cushions between motor and handle to cut down vibration. - At a listed 3.4 kg it is the lightest Makita in this guide, good for shaping above shoulder height. - A battery warning lamp blinks red when charge runs low, so you are not caught mid cut. Good to know: - The listing says it is an international product sold from abroad, so labelling and instructions may differ. - It names the 3.0 Ah battery but does not say whether a charger is in the box. ### 4. FLEXMAN Cordless Hedge Trimmer, 22'' Dual Action Blades 20V Electric Bush Trimmer with 180° Rotatable Handle 3/4'' Cutting Capacity, 1550Rpm Handheld Bush Shrub Trimmer for Garden Blade length: 56 cm; Cutting capacity: 19 mm; Voltage: 20 V; Weight: 3.65 kg; Battery and charger: 2.0 Ah battery and fast charger A 20V hedge trimmer with 56 cm dual action blades, a 19 mm cutting capacity and a 180 degree rotating handle, supplied ready to go with battery and charger. In its favour: - Everything is in the box: the trimmer, a 2.0 Ah battery and a fast charger. - Dual action blades cut up to 19 mm thick, according to the listing. - The handle rotates through 180 degrees for trimming the tops and sides of a hedge. Good to know: - The bullets and the specs give two different weights, so the true weight is unclear. - A 2.0 Ah battery is small for long hedges, and the listing does not state a run time. ### 5. Makita GHU02Z 40V Max XGT Brushless Lithium-Ion 24 in. Cordless Hedge Trimmer (Tool Only) Blade length: 61 cm (24 in); Cutting capacity: Not stated; Voltage: 40 V max XGT; Weight: 6.37 kg (listed); Battery and charger: Not included A brushless 40V max XGT hedge trimmer with a 24 in alloy steel blade, sold as the tool only for owners of Makita XGT batteries. In its favour: - The 24 in (61 cm) blade suits long, straight hedges where reach per sweep matters. - Runs on Makita's 40V max XGT platform, the highest voltage system in this guide. - Brushless motor, according to the listing title. Good to know: - Tool only, and it needs XGT batteries rather than the 18V LXT packs many Makita owners have. - The listing has no feature bullets and gives a heavy 6.37 kg weight that may include packaging. ### 6. HKBTCH Ryobi 22 in. 18-Volt Cordless Hedge Trimmer Blade length: 56 cm (22 in); Cutting capacity: 19 mm (3/4 in); Voltage: 18 V; Weight: 3.95 kg; Battery and charger: Not stated An 18V Ryobi hedge trimmer with 22 in dual action blades, up to 3/4 in cutting capacity and a rotating handle, for owners who already run Ryobi batteries. In its favour: - Dual action blades are said to give extended reach with reduced vibration. - Up to 3/4 in (19 mm) cutting capacity handles typical garden hedge growth. - A rotating handle helps when cutting the top and sides at different angles. Good to know: - The listing does not say whether a battery or charger is included. - Only three short bullets, with no stated speed, run time or blade material detail beyond alloy steel.
