This Greenworks listing is really two tools. One is a hand held 40V hedge trimmer with 61 cm steel blades and 27 mm spacing. The other is the G40PSH, a 2 in 1 pole saw and long reach hedge trimmer. Together they cover a garden with low front hedges, a tall boundary and the odd high branch, all on one battery system.

In its favour

  • The hand held trimmer has 61 cm steel blades with 27 mm spacing, the widest gap stated in this guide.
  • A listed 2.8 kg weight and a 90 degree swivelling handle make long sessions easier.
  • The second tool adds a pole hedge trimmer and pole saw that switch over without tools.

Good to know

  • The listing is unclear on batteries: one line says a 2 Ah battery and charger are included, another says they are not.
  • Two tools in one box means more to store if you only need a hand held trimmer.

Our take

The hand held trimmer

Greenworks lists the hand held tool with 61 cm steel blades and a blade spacing of 27 mm. That spacing is the widest stated in our cordless hedge trimmer guide, so it should cope with thicker shoots than trimmers rated around 19 mm. The handle swivels through 90 degrees, which helps when you turn the tool on its side to cut the top of a hedge.

The stated weight is 2.8 kg, which is light for such a long blade. Greenworks gives a sound power level of under 96 dB, so ear protection is still sensible.

The pole tool in the same box

The second tool swaps between a high branch saw and a long reach hedge trimmer without tools. The listing gives the long reach trimmer a 51 cm blade, a 7 position articulated head and an 18 mm cutting thickness. The pole saw lets you deal with overhanging branches that a hedge trimmer cannot handle.

The battery question

Read this listing carefully. One bullet says a 2 Ah battery and charger are included with the pole tool, while another says the hedge trimmer comes without battery and charger. The safest reading is that you get one 2 Ah battery and one charger to share between the two tools, but the listing does not say so outright.

A 2 Ah pack is on the small side for a 61 cm trimmer and a pole saw. If you have long hedges, a second or larger Greenworks 40V battery would cut down on waiting.

Compared with single tools

If you only need a hand held trimmer, the Makita DUH602Z offers a similar 60 cm length on Makita batteries, and the Flexman 20V is a simpler one tool kit. If reach is the priority, the Ryobi OPT1845 pole trimmer kit has a clearer battery description and a 115 degree head.

Verdict

Pick this bundle if you want both a long hand held trimmer and a pole saw with hedge head, and you are happy to commit to Greenworks 40V. The unclear battery wording means you should plan on buying an extra pack. Buyers who need only one job doing will find the Makita DUH602Z or the Ryobi OPT1845 kit more focused.
