The Ryobi OBC1820B is the tool to buy when a normal strimmer is not enough. It is a two-in-one brush cutter and trimmer, supplied with both a 30 cm line head and a 20 cm hardened steel triarc blade, along with a 5 Ah ONE+ battery and a charger. It suits gardens with long weeds, nettles or a neglected corner as well as ordinary lawn edges.

Our take
Blade and line head
The 20 cm triarc blade is hardened steel with three cutting points. It is designed for tough grass and long weeds that would wrap around or snap nylon line. When the rough work is done, swap to the 30 cm line head for routine trimming. Ryobi pitches the line path as large, which helps you finish quickly.
Fitting a steel blade means following the manual carefully, including wearing eye and leg protection and keeping others well clear.
Battery and charging
The RB18L50 5 Ah battery is the largest supplied with any trimmer in this group. Ryobi says the charger fills it in one hour and has a maintenance mode that trickle charges for longer battery life. A four stage fuel gauge shows 100, 75, 50 and 25 percent. The pack also fits the wider ONE+ range, which Ryobi puts at over 40 garden and power tools.
What the listing does not say
There is no weight, no rpm figure and no detail of the handle design in this listing. Brush cutters are typically bulkier than plain trimmers, so expect more to carry, and check the dimensions on Ryobi's own product page if storage space is limited. The listing also leaves out the handle type, so if you prefer a bike style handle for long sessions, confirm it before ordering.
Is it the right tool for you
For a lawn with neat borders and no rough patches, the Bosch AdvancedGrassCut 36 is lighter and simpler. The Greenworks 40V 33 cm offers a dedicated edger wheel. The OBC1820B earns its place where vegetation is mixed: one day it clears brambly growth at the back fence, the next it trims round the lawn. For allotment holders or owners of a small paddock, that flexibility is the main reason to choose it.
Verdict
Buy the OBC1820B if your garden has rough areas a line cannot handle and you want a 5 Ah ONE+ battery with charger in the box. For tidy lawn edges only, the Bosch AdvancedGrassCut 36 is lighter, and the Greenworks 40V 33 cm adds edging with a guide wheel.
