Large lawns expose the limits of a small battery mower. Every extra centimetre of cut saves passes, and every extra watt hour of battery saves a trip back to the charger. Mowers built for bigger gardens tend to use two batteries at once or one large pack, wider decks of 41 to 51 cm and bigger grass boxes, and the heaviest add self drive. This guide compares battery mowers for lawns of roughly 500 m² and above on the figures each listing gives: cutting width, the batteries it runs on and what is in the box, the lawn area the maker suggests, drive type and grass box size. If your lawn is well above 1,000 m², buy spare batteries or consider a robot mower.
