  • Best overall

    Automower 315: wire guided, 1,500 m², 40%

Rated for lawns up to 1,500 m² and slopes up to 40%, a wide margin for most UK back gardens.

  • Best value

Automower 405VE: EPOS AI with EdgeCut

No boundary wire, since the listing describes EPOS virtual boundary technology.

  • Most features

    Automower 430 V: wire-free, 50% slope

The listing gives a 50% maximum slope inside the working area.

Husqvarna sells its Automowers in two broad families. The classic models follow a boundary wire pegged round the lawn. The newer EPOS and vision models use a virtual boundary that you draw in the app, so there is no wire to lay or repair. Model numbers roughly track size: higher numbers cover larger lawns and steeper slopes. This guide compares the three Automowers currently in our product list on the facts their listings give: how they find the edge, the rated lawn area, the slope limit and the main features. Some listings are thin, so where a figure is missing we say so. Husqvarna sells through dealers as well as online, and a dealer can confirm the exact spec and installation options for your garden.

The products in detail

1,500 m²

No. 1 · Husqvarna

Automower 315: wire guided, 1,500 m², 40%

A proven boundary wire Automower for medium to large lawns, with app control through Automower Connect and a weather timer that adapts mowing to grass growth.

In its favour

  • Rated for lawns up to 1,500 m² and slopes up to 40%, a wide margin for most UK back gardens.
  • The listing mentions a weather timer that changes cutting time with growth, so it mows less in dry spells.
  • Anti-theft features are included, and Automower Connect lets you control it from your phone.

Good to know

  • This listing is for a 2018 model, so newer Automowers may add features it lacks.
  • The boundary wire has to be laid and pegged, which takes longer than an app-drawn map.
